The Resort is only 50 metres from the beach, with the Nelly Bay beach stretching for nearly 1 kilometer. There are restaurants within walking distance of the resort, along with two grocery shops, pizza shop, cafés & bakery. The prices at the supermarkets are very competitive to the mainland – I shop here all the time.
The bus stop is conveniently located near our front entrance, enabling travel to & from the ferry terminal and around the rest of the Island. The other bays on the Island also have eating places, which you can easily get to on the bus or if you have a vehicle, can drive to. The Resort has a full tour desk, we are able to help you organise any of the activities you may wish to do while on the Island. There are many things to do, including jetskiing, kayaking, horseriding, bush walking, koala watching, fishing, snorkeling and visiting the reef. Alternatively, you can do as little as possible and lay around the pool or beaches.
Sunferries operate the passenger ferry to Magnetic Island, departing from the Breakwater Ferry Terminal. The ferry takes 25 minutes from Townsville to Magnetic Island. Their website, www.sunferries.com.au has timetable information.
Once on the Island the easiest way to get to the Resort, is by the local bus. They will be at the front of the ferry terminal, they meet each ferry, the cost is $1.50 per person, the trip takes approx 10 minutes and you will be dropped right outside the Resort. There are only 2 taxis on the Island, so once these have been taken it can be a wait up to half an hour before they come back.
Alternatively, you are able to bring your own vehicle across with Fantasea Cruising Magnetic. Their website, www.magneticislandferry.com.au has timetable information and prices. It is necessary to book your vehicle on this service, their number is 4772 5422.
